About a year ago, I joined the team at Wikispaces, a wiki-hosting company based in San Francisco, as the company's Marketing Manager. The company's mission is to build simple wikis that everyday real people use. And Wikispaces has done, and continues to do that. The company has grown its product organically, listening to what its customers want and making continuous improvements along the way. We have received tons of praise from our customers, some of which you can read on our quotes page. People are shocked that Wikispaces actually takes care of their concerns and offers real customer service, something that is lacking in many companies these days.
Wikispaces is a gem of a company, from listening to its customers - which leads to a great product - to the personalities of the people who founded it. To be Marketing Manager in this company is distinct from how I imagined marketing working in some other companies. There is no pressure to "push" a product on people or to spend lots of money on huge ad campaigns to change the nervous systems of others. Instead, everything is about bringing new value to the world, oriented to the concerns of actual people. Exactly as a business should be.
If you have any questions about using a wiki in your school, company, non-profit, or family, send us an e-mail at help@wikispaces.com and we'll be happy to help you.
