Friends, Colleagues, and Collectives:
Below is an incomplete list that I recently realized will always be incomplete. As I add more people, I find more to add. There is no way I can put everyone on it that I want to, and so it will remain an unfinished glimpse of the people that surround me.
In My Professional World
- Wikispaces: I recently joined Wikispaces as Marketing Manager. You can read more on what I have to say about the company here, or check us out on our about page.
- Guillermo Wechsler: Guillermo is my family friend and mentor. He has designed services for organizations in the financial, health, retail, and software sectors as well as for non-profit organizations. He is the founder of the Open Service Architecture Network, which is exploring how open technologies can be used to enrich and shape service organizations from business to government to education.
- Chauncey Bell: I used to work for Chauncey. He is beginning a position as COO of an entrepreneurial company in the health care industry that will deliver hospitals to and for communities at a much lower cost than we can currently do. There are many possibilities with this venture, all which give me hope for the health care industry.
In My Entrepreneurial World
- Neighbor's Project: A non-profit organization focused on engaging 20-30 year-old urban dwellers in their neighborhoods, in order to reduce gentrification and sprawl. Neighbors Project is a community oriented to improving the our communal world and are helping my generation - whose habits, such as driving a car or buying from large chains, are not to deeply engrained to never be changed. And by engaging us in our neighborhoods, we improve en masse The steps young people would have to take to become involved in the community are extremely practical I was recently asked by Kit Hodge, the CEO and President to join the board, an opportunity I'm looking forward to.
- NewAssignment.net: Founded by Jay Rosen as the parent site for a variety of experiments in open journalism. I have participated a little in their experiments, such as Assignment Zero and OffTheBus. The people behind it, including David Cohn and Amanda Michel, are young, engaged, intelligent, crazy hard-working, and cool individuals. Good things will come from them.
In My Social World
- The November Blog: A friend who is involved in local political and environmental campaigns and brings a humorous cynicism to current political happenings.
